Pagtitipon: A Celebration of Filipino Creativity in Vienna

Vienna recently hosted Pagtitipon, an art festival bringing together Filipino artists from the Philippines and Europe in a celebration of culture, creativity, and collaboration.

The event, held at the PublicArts Gallery, showcased the dynamic spirit of Filipino artistry across generations and continents.

The festival featured the Bastedor Art Project headed by Norlie Meimban

Highlighting works by Lara Latosa, Renee Avila, Ron Salazar, Arnel Garcia, Jojo Ramirez, Jepoy Almario, Astrid Almario, Rex Cabaroc, China Tolentino, Dondi Fernandez, Addi Cukingnan, Rey Aurelio, Meneline Wong, M.D., Richard Buxani, and Piolo Meimban. Adding to the international dimension, the For Sige! collective represented by Harold Khan, Marie Khan, Charmaine Taus, KC Cruz, Rob Detoyato, Lisa Ante, and Andy Nabong contributed contemporary works with fresh perspectives.

The group included Bernardo Balagtas, Don Miranda III, Maria Cecilia, Rosali Gonzales, Dolpee Alcantara, and Aron Bautista. These artists known for continuing Angono’s legacy as the “Art Capital of the Philippines.”

The evening blended the arts with music and cuisine

Rosali Gonzales enchanted the crowd with a live flute performance of Pandanguhan, while culinary curator Lilibeth Meimban offered a menu fusing Filipino and Western flavors, highlighted by traditional lumpia prepared by the local Filipino community in Vienna.

Pagtitipon lived up to its name

Distinguished guests included the Cultural Attaché of the Philippine Embassy in Austria and Ms. Josipa Palac, President of the ICDO. Among the audience were Austrian singer-songwriter Ola Egbowon and members of the group Halo-Halo, who joined in to support the thriving Filipino art movement.

Serving as a gathering point not just for artists, but also for communities united in celebrating the richness of Filipino culture on the global stage.
