Tara Let’s! Filipino Art Festival Bridges Cultures in Vienna

Tara Let’s! Filipino Art Festival Bridges Cultures in Vienna

Tara Let’s! — a name drawn from the playful fusion of the Tagalog invitation “tara” (meaning “let’s go”) and the English “let’s.”

The phrase, also known in its more colloquial jeproks variant “taralets,” speaks to the laid-back, creative energy that animated this cultural event.

Organized by sige! here in Vienna and the Philippine-based Bastedor art project led by celebrated artist Norlie Meimban, Tara Let’s! brought together a dynamic roster of Filipino artists.

Showcased across two venues: the Publicarts Gallery and the Philippine Embassy in Vienna.

Participating artists included:
Grandjoy Agdigos, Brando Bati, Joelle Bautista, Danvic Briones, Noel P. Bueza, Margo Calderero-Le Lain, Kristine Camille Cruz, Rob Detoyato, Zorrick Enriquez, Lerma Julian, Marie Khan, Harold Khan, Arth Summer Lozano, Doreen Marco, Norlie Meimban, Isabel Monserrat, Andy Nabong, Jessielaine Punongbayan, Charmaine Taus, and Johnny West.

Hosted by our very own Gerard Rabara

Bringing this project to fruition would not have been possible without the passionate involvement of community members and the vital backing of sponsors who believe in the power of the arts to inspire and connect

At the forefront of support was A.C.C.E.S., a steadfast advocate for the arts and community engagement, along with Marikit Markt, known for uplifting Filipino small businesses and creatives in the local scene. Hiyas, known for handcrafted accessories, and Linking Phi, connecting skilled professionals from the Philippines with opportunities in Austria and Manuel Generoso Photography, also played essential roles.

Donors stepped up to help fund additional costs and provide Filipino empanadas for the exhibit — turning the event into a full sensory celebration.

We are very thankful for their remarkable generosity. Mrs. Zandrine Kocjan, Mrs. Georgie Savic-Rico, Ms. Leah Avinante, and Ms. Laura Reynaldo offered their unwavering encouragement and resources. Mr. Angelo Tagle extended his support by offering fresh homemade ice cream, reinforcing the spirit of bayanihan—the Filipino value of communal unity and cooperation.

The event was graced by Ambassador H.E. Evangelina Lourdes Arroyo-Bernas, who delivered a brief yet heartfelt speech.

In appreciation, the artists presented her with a collaborative artwork titled Isang Sining: Threads of Home and a portrait sketch created by Harold Khan.

Attendees enjoyed classic Filipino hospitality with servings of traditional empanada, refreshing drinks, and snacks, adding a taste of home to this artistic celebration.

Tara Let’s! stood as a testament to the growing global presence of Filipino art and culture, showcasing how creativity can transcend borders and connect communities with warmth, pride, and color.
